We sourced some used batteries to replace the set that, linked to a solar panel array, had been providing most of the power for the Zigzag building (Facebook page) via a large ‘mains’ inverter. Our previously installed system, which provides all the lighting for the building is still going strong. The set we were replacing this time were flooded lead acid batteries and had been given a heavy ‘equalization’ charge regularly without the acid levels being checked. Low water levels exposed the batteries lead plates which led to rapid battery failure.
We sourced a bigger battery bank than had previously been installed, made up some new battery leads and installed it all along with some of the zigzag crew
